2023-2024 DRESS CODE

At Elevation Academy a dress code is enforced to teach dancers respect for the discipline of dance and to bring attention to safety and performance. Proper dance attire allows teachers and dancers to more effectively evaluate alignment and placement and enhances movement capabilities. Please see the descriptions below for each dance style.

Please contact the studio if your dancer needs to be fitted for dance wear or shoes prior to ordering.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT

This is a sensory friendly class! Comfortable loose or form fitting athletic wear and bare-feet are encouraged. No street clothes or shoes. Students may wear dance attire such as leotards, skirts, tights and ballet shoes but they are not required.

TOT HOP

Loose, comfortable dance or athletic wear clothing. No street clothes. Clean tennis shoes that are for studio use only and never worn outside.

PRE-BALLET

Please click the link above to view and purchase required leotard, tights, and shoes. Our specific leotard, tights, and shoes are required for this class to ensure dancer’s success. Hair should be worn off the neck and out of the face.

BATON

Form fitting dance-wear only. To ensure dancer’s success, our specific nude jazz shoes and tights are required for this class and can be purchased via our online dance-wear store. Hair must be worn off the neck and out of the face.

BALLET I, II, III, IV, V, VI, PRE-POINTE, POINTE

Please click the link above to view and purchase required class leotard, tights, and shoes. Our specific dance-wear is required to ensure dancer’s comfort and success. Required classic pink convertible tights (worn over feet and under ballet shoes), level color leotard. FORM-FITTING ballet warm ups, leggings, shorts and skirts may be worn. Hair must be secured in a low or high bun (no mid buns). Required classic pink ballet shoes (pointe shoes when appropriate and approved by Director). Undergarments must not be visible. Pre-Pointe will be done primarily in bare feet. Pointe will start in bare feet.

JAZZ I / HIP HOP I

Form fitting dance-wear only. To ensure dancer’s success, our specific nude jazz shoes and tights are required for this class and can be purchased via our online dance-wear store. Hair must be worn off the neck and out of the face.

TAP I, II, III

Form fitting dance-wear only. To ensure dancer’s success, our specific slip on tap shoes and nude tights are required for this class and can be purchased via our online dance-wear store. Hair must be worn off the neck and out of the face.

JAZZ I, II, III, IV, V, VI

Form fitting dance-wear only. To ensure dancer’s success, our specific nude jazz shoes and tights are required for all jazz classes and can be purchased via our online dance-wear store. Hair must be worn off the neck and out of the face.

HIP HOP II, III, IV, V, VI

Comfortable dance or athletic wear with CLEAN, black tennis shoes that are for studio use only. No shorts please. No street (outside) shoes will be allowed. No jeans, buttons, or zippers.

LYRICAL III, IV, V, VI

Form fitting dance-wear only. To ensure dancer’s success, our specific lyrical shoes and footless tights are required for class and can be purchased via our online dance-wear store. Hair must be worn off the neck and out of the face.

STRENGTH TRAINING

Form fitting dance-wear only. Hair must be worn off the neck and out of the face.

COMPANY

Form fitting dance-wear only. Black bottoms and any solid color top. Hair must be worn off the neck and out of the face. Dancers are required to have pink ballet shoes, nude jazz shoes, nude foot undeez, clean black tennis shoes, pointe shoes (when applicable) and socks on-hand at all times.
